If you’re like me, you get bored with the same ol’ workout routine – so why not mix it up? I created Fittestah to share my journey from couch potato to tester of all things fitness. Hence Fittestah. I grew up just north of Boston, so we don’t pronounce our R’s around here!
Like so many others, my early 20s were filled with late night eating, poor sleeping habits, and excessive partying. My weight was never an issue, so I thought I was healthy.
Fast forward to my late 20s. I was married, working toward an MBA, sitting at a desk for eight hours a day, and had gained 25 pounds. Creating sustainable, healthy habits for myself and my husband became priority #1.
Exercising (for fun) was a foreign concept until I got the opportunity to run the Boston Marathon in 2013. I had never trained for anything of that magnitude and had no idea where to start. So I read books, followed blogs, and tried out a number of workouts and exercises that complimented my training.
CrossFit. Running. Spinning. HIIT workouts. Yoga. Meditation. I discovered I loved it all.
Since then, I’ve run Boston twice (I was stopped at mile 22 in 2013 due to the bombings, but finished in 2014), completed four half marathons, numerous 5K races, and competed in two CrossFit competitions. And while I don’t focus entirely on the scale, I have lost 10 pounds (and gained a ton of muscle) along the way.
My passion for fitness has inspired me to ditch the desk job and live a more active lifestyle. I’m currently enrolled in the NASM Certified Personal Training course and will begin offering both in-person and online coaching once complete.
