Hope ya’ll had a great 4th of July! It’s hands-down my favorite holiday. Grilling, beaching, boating, cocktailing – how much better does it get!? Jam-packed weekends are the best, but man was it tough getting back to work.
We started off the weekend with a beach day at West Beach in Beverly, traveled to Brett’s dad’s lake house in Freedom, NH Sunday (what better city to celebrate the 4th – amiright?!), and closed out the weekend with a cookout and fireworks at Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield, MA. Pretty freakin’ perfect.
Last week’s workouts were all about the repeats. It’s so satisfying to repeat a workout performed weeks, months, or even years later to measure how far you’ve really come. It’s so humbling and makes all of the hard work so worth it. Whether you’re trying for a faster 5K time, attempting lifts at heavier weights, or racing to beat a previous time, it’s important to check in every now and then.
In all of the workouts performed last week, I performed better this time around. The.best.feeling.
Strength: 2 push press + 2 push jerk +1 split jerk
Every 2 minutes for 12 minutes
I worked up to 75#
75 push presses at 55#
50 power cleans at 55#
25 double unders
3 burpees every minute on the minute
I finished Rx (woohoo!) in 12:18.
My previous time on 2/23/16 was 10:48 but I was only doing singles (75 of them in this workout) at that time. I was pretty pumped to be able to perform this workout Rx with double unders this time around, even if it took me longer to finish.

My previous time on 12/29/15 was 13:08 modified to 70# – hey, I’ll take it!
This is probably my favorite workout – crazy to say, I know!
Workout: AMRAP for 20 minutes

50 hand release push-ups
30 ground to overhead at 95#
20 over-the-bar burps
10 tire flips
I got 247 reps and modified the toes-to-bar to knees-to-chest and the ground to overhead at 65#.
The last time I did this workout was on 1/22/16 and my score was 241 reps with modified toes-to bar to knees-to-chest and the ground to overhead at 55#. A weight and rep increase?! I was a very happy girl after this one.
