Hey there! I hope your week is going well. This week is super busy for Brett and I; his brother is getting married this weekend, so lots to do before then.
Last week’s workouts were heavy on cardio, so I was a huge fan! Lots of running, rowing, box jumps, burpees, etc. Definitely got the heart pumping.
I used to cherry-pick my workouts and avoided anything I wasn’t good at or didn’t like – for me that meant snatches, rope climbs, and wall handstands. Not anymore. This past week’s workouts included rope climbs during the strength piece; and guess what? I did 5 that day!! I know for sure that would not have been possible if I chose to avoid them all of the time.
Workouts that challenge you are in many ways more important than the workouts you’re good at. And the more you work on movements that you don’t like, the more you improve. And the more you improve, the more enjoyable those movements become. It’s a win, win!
Strength: 2 sets
Banded super frog X 90 seconds each side
Plank X 60 seconds
Workout: Every 5 minutes, for 30 minutes
20 Russian Kettlebell Swings 35#
40 double unders I’m working on stringing double unders together, so I did 60 singles.
Score is your slowest round. My slowest round was 3:41.
Tuesday Rest day
Wednesday CrossFit style workout at the gym at work
Strength: Back Squats 5X5
5 at 95#, 100#, 105#, 110#, 115#
Workout: 12 minute time cap
Start with a 9 cal row, 9 box jumps, then
10 cal, 10 box jumps, 11 cal, 11 box jumps, etc.
I got through round 14 and 11 cals into round 15 using a 20” box.
I also did 100 sit ups – just for the heck of it!
Strength: 4 sets not timed
8 pistols each leg I used a 15# plate on the floor to elevate my heel to modify.
Rest 60 seconds
8 ring push ups
Rest 60 seconds
Workout: 4 sets for max reps of manmakers, against a 3 minute clock. Rest 2 minutes between sets.
Run 400m, then
Max reps of dumbbell manmakers
I got 10 reps using a 25# dumbbell.

Strength: AMRAP 10 minutes
2 rope climbs
3 wall walks
10 hollow rocks
I got 2 rounds, plus an extra rope climb!
Workout: 5 rounds for max reps
60 seconds of rowing for calories

Sunday 4 mile beach walk
It’s really heating up here in the Northeast and I’m so looking forward to beach days! Brett and I got our first taste of the beach this past weekend. We headed up to Hampton Beach State Park for some much needed sand, sun, and vitamin sea!
There are so many things to do in the Hampton area; it’s one of my favorite day trips since it’s only about a 40 minute drive from our house. The state park offers lots of amenities and activities such as swimming, fishing, picnicking, and RV camping. It’s also a great place to kayak or paddleboard which we plan to do later this summer when the waters warm up a bit.
